What We DoWhat We Do

Amphora Design is the only specialist design consultancy working specifically with the wine trade. Many millions of pounds’ worth of Amphora-designed wine is sold every day in the UK market alone. Established in 1992 and operating in central Bath, Amphora has evolved in direct response to a need from within the trade for a knowledgeable, straightforward approach to achieving effective design solutions.

Who dares wins

Amphora Design offers a thorough, competitive service, which benefits from a unique combination of first hand knowledge and experience of the wine trade, coupled with a formal training in design.

No bottlenecks

We cover any scale of project from refreshing an existing package, to major new brand development. Whilst the majority of our work is directly connected with wine, we have also undertaken redesign projects across the range of drinks products, including wine, spirits, beer, and cider.

Name that brand

As a natural extension of our close involvement with the development of a new or existing brand, our input also extends to web creative and the greater brand world.

Networkers

As a relatively small company we are also able to maintain very close and personal contact with our clients, and have evolved a very direct and responsive modus operandi.

Shoulder to shoulder

Our detailed knowledge of current consumer, market and design trends, and understanding of the historical background to both the product and the market allows a strong and unobscured emphasis on creativity.

Who We AreWho We Are

Amphora Design is a dynamic team of six individuals under the creative direction of Neil Tully. Neil is a graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and obtained his Master of Wine qualification in 1993. Having worked both in and with the wine industry for over 25 years, Neil has a thorough and detailed knowledge of both the product and the market.

Kevin Rylands has considerable experience in the design industry, with a background in a number of blue-chip London agencies. Now with Amphora for more than fifteen years, his first hand experience of drinks brand creation and development is a constant and valuable asset.

Simon Kingston has acquired a detailed and intuitive knowledge of the way packaging for wine works during his time with Amphora. He has a passion for typography and an instinctive feel for visual harmony, together with an eagle-eye for detail. He has managed to travel to many of the wine producing countries we work with.

Jane Coggins is our Project Manager and supports the running of each project from inception to completion. Jane has an instinctive ability to tailor each project’s modus operandi to its specific requirements, to ensure all deadlines are met.

Sarah joined Amphora in 2016 and ensures the smooth day-to-day running of the studio. A vital role that ensures our designers can focus on creativity above all else.
